Theology

Welcome to the Faculty of Theology

Theology is the systematic study of the nature of the divine and, more broadly, of religious belief. It examines the human experience of faith, and how different people and cultures express it.

Take some time to get to know our faculty, our community, and our commitment to teaching God’s word. We offer a range of courses that will help you prepare for mission or local ministry, or simply come to a deeper understanding of God and His purpose for your life.

Ministry

Theology may be used to propagate, reform, or justify a religious tradition; or it may be used to compare, challenge (e.g. biblical criticism), or oppose (e.g. irreligion) a religious tradition or worldview.

Theologians examine the many different religions of the world and their impact on society. Today we are more aware than ever of the profound influence religion has on us, even if we do not follow it ourselves. Understanding this can help us understand the laws, wars, traditions and morals of our own society and that of others.

Jobs for theology and religion majors include:

  • Catholic Leadership (hospitals, charity organizations, parishes, dioceses, etc.)
  • K-12 Teacher
  • Director of Religious Education for a Parish
  • Youth Minister
  • Missionary
  • College or Seminary Professor
  • Catholic Priest
