Postgraduate Program

Master Degree

Taking your Studies to the Next Level

A Master’s degree is a postgraduate degree that is awarded by Harris University after a student has completed a course of study that lasts two years or more. It’s a higher level of academic achievement than a Bachelor’s degree and is often required for certain advanced or specialized careers.

Some common examples of Master’s degrees available at Harris University include the:

  • Master of Arts (MA)
  • Master of Science (MS)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master of Education (MEd)
  • Master of Engineering (MEng)

All our Master’s degree programs are designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in a specific area of study, and they often involve coursework, research, and practical experience.

Requirements

Students who are enrolled in a Master’s degree program will be required to:

  1. Complete a minimum of 60 credit hours of coursework: This will typically include a combination of required courses and elective courses, depending on the program.
  2. Maintain a minimum GPA requirement in order to remain in good standing and progress towards graduation.
  3. Complete a final project or research paper in order to demonstrate their mastery of the subject matter.
  4. Meet any other requirements set by the faculty, such as completing an internship or participating in other experiential learning opportunities.

A Master’s degree can help to open up new job opportunities and may be required for certain advanced or specialized positions.

A Master’s can also be a good way for someone to transition into a new field or industry.

According to data from the US Census Bureau, workers with a Master’s degree earn, on average, significantly more than workers with only a Bachelor’s degree. In fact, the median earnings for workers with a Master’s degree are about $17,000 per year higher than those with just a Bachelor’s degree.

However, it’s important to note that the specific impact of a Master’s degree on an individual’s earning potential will depend on a number of factors, including the field of study, the individual’s prior education and experience, and the job market in their industry. Some fields and industries may place a higher value on a Master’s degree than others, and the earning potential for workers with such a degree may be higher in some fields and regions than in others.

Jobs that Require a Master's Degree

There are many jobs that require or prefer candidates to have a Master’s degree. Some examples of fields and occupations that may require a master’s degree include:

  • Higher Education - Many colleges and universities require faculty members to have a master's degree or higher in their field of expertise.
  • Medicine and Healthcare - Some medical and healthcare occupations, such as physician assistants and occupational therapists, require a master's degree.
  • Business and Management - Many high-level management and executive positions require a master's degree, such as the Master of Business Administration (MBA).
